HAIR CARE
Your hair is an investment. Let's take care of it.
Quality human hair can be worn and reused through multiple installations when it's cared for properly. But here's something important:
QUALITY HAIR DOESN'T MEAN MAINTENANCE-FREE HAIR.
Hair growing from your head receives natural oils from your scalp. Your extensions don't. Once hair has been cut from its donor, those strands no longer receive that continuous supply of natural oils. That's one reason extensions - particularly coarse, curly and textured hair - may need additional help maintaining softness and manageability.
And remember what we talked about earlier:
Different hair has different needs.
So care for the texture you actually purchased - not just the words 'human hair' on the label.
1. DETANGLE FIRST
Before washing, gently detangle your hair. Start at the ends and slowly work your way upward. Don't start at the top and force your way through knots. For straight and wavy hair, use a wide-tooth comb or extension-friendly detangling brush. Curly hair may be easier to detangle while damp with conditioner applied.
Work in sections and take your time.
Your bundles will thank you.
2. CLEANSE
Use lukewarm water and a quality shampoo. Wash in a downward motion rather than aggressively rubbing, twisting or bunching the hair together. Rinse thoroughly. If you've been using styling products and the hair feels
coated, heavy or difficult to manage, product buildup may be part of the problem. That's when an occasional clarifying cleanse can help.
3. CONDITION & RESTORE MOISTURE
After cleansing, apply a quality moisturizing conditioner through the lengths and ends. Allow it to sit according to the product directions and rinse thoroughly. Coarser, curly, chemically treated or frequently heat-styled extensions may benefit from periodic deeper conditioning treatments. If your extensions suddenly feel dry or frizzy, don't
automatically add oil or reach for the flat iron. Sometimes your hair simply needs to be properly cleansed and conditioned.
4. DRY PROPERLY
Gently remove excess water without aggressively rubbing the hair with a towel. Whenever possible, allow your extensions to air dry. And please -Don't go to bed with wet extensions. Wet hair combined with tossing, turning and friction is a
recipe for unnecessary tangling.
5. HEAT & STYLING
Human hair can generally be heat styled. But just because it can take heat doesn't mean your flat iron needs to be on maximum every morning. Use a quality heat protectant and the lowest temperature necessary to achieve your style. Repeated excessive heat can eventually affect any human hair - including extensions.
6. PROTECT YOUR HAIR AT NIGHT
Before bed, loosely braid, wrap or secure your extensions to reduce friction and tangling.
Wear a silk or satin bonnet or scarf. A silk or satin pillowcase can provide additional
protection. For curly textures, a loose pineapple, braids or twists may
help preserve the curl pattern. Nighttime protection isn't just for keeping your style cute.
It is part of maintaining your investment.
7. SWIMMING
Chlorine and salt water can be drying. Before swimming, wet your extensions with clean water and consider applying an appropriate extension-safe conditioner or protectant. Afterward, rinse thoroughly and properly cleanse and condition the hair. Don't leave chlorine or salt water sitting in your
extensions.
8. COLORING & BLEACHING
Our human hair extensions can generally be colored, toned and lightened. For the best results, we recommend having color services performed by a licensed professional experienced with extensions. Hair that is naturally lighter may be easier to lift, while darker hair may require gradual lightening. Very light blondes or vivid colors may require multiple
sessions.
ALWAYS STRAND TEST FIRST.
Coloring and bleaching can change the hair texture, increase dryness and shorten its lifespan - especially when hair is lifted several shades or repeatedly processed. Avoid overlapping bleach onto previously lightened hair.
9. BETWEEN INSTALLS
Don't spend good money on hair and then throw it in a bag until your next appointment. Clean and condition the hair as needed. Detangle it. Allow it to dry completely. Then store it somewhere clean and dry where it won't become tangled, matted or crushed. Take care of it now so it's ready when you want to wear it again.
CURLY GIRLS, THIS ONE'S FOR YOU.
Curly extensions need a different kind of love.
For best results:
- Detangle carefully while damp and conditioned
- Work in sections
- Use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb
- Maintain moisture
- Avoid weighing curls down with excessive products
- Air dry whenever possible
- Avoid constantly brushing curls while dry
- Refresh with water and lightweight curl products when needed
- Protect your curls before bed
And remember: Every curl doesn't have to look exactly the same. That's part of what makes textured human hair beautiful.
